History

One of several Floating Cities tethered between the real world and the mystical Ethereal Realm to function as peaceful refuges in the sky, Isle d'Oriens rose to the skies during the Devourer's fourth coming (Trouble From Beyond). Four brothers, L'Ouie, Optico, Muter and Garavin, who were researchers working for the king of Ilduran—each an expert in masonry, in scripture, in decoration and in entertainment, respectively—, designed and engineered the haven on a clearing near the Gulf of Kyed when the news of the Uncreator and his Network reached them. Their ingenuity, combined with Falerin Ardendor's help[1] (who had sought limited permission to act from Lorithia and the Elemental Lords, to thwart the Devourer's efforts[1]), allowed them to lift the city, while witnessing as The'Galin "devoured" the corrupt civilisations that populated Lore at the time (Story of the Four).

When his task was done, Garavin stood against The'Galin, believing him to be the monster that his actions, and those of his Network, made him out to be.[1] The'Galin then prophesized several things about him, just as he made him the Avatar of Eternal and the guardian of a clock, counting down to his return, which he hid in the isle's Vault for centuries (Story of the Four, The Beacon). Celestra, who had accompanied her father to the city, left as soon as she acquired her gauntlet to chase after the Devourer and his Network (Trouble From Beyond), leaving Garavin to watch over the clock and Falerin Ardendor as the library's Loremaster for centuries to come. In the following two decades since his daughter's departure, Garavin researched ways to defeat the Devourer within and without the city's library (Battle for the Salvation Weapons!).

Eventually, it came to be home to Lady Tomo, Pae Gekkonidae, and Adder, who was brought to Isle d'Oriens by Garavin during childhood after helping him move the viridium-made Weapons of Salvation and hiding them beneath the crater from where the Isle d'Oriens had risen (Battle for the Salvation Weapons!). Isle d'Oriens also welcomed Drakel Magnae Ama and Vin'Zika, nicknamed "Vince".

Once, while Vince was studying how the builders of the city mixed magic and ancient Drakel technology, trying to upgrade them based on some of the more recent advances in dimensional sciences, the engineer once tinkered with the energy tethers that anchor Isle d'Oriens to the Ethereal Realm and lost his arms in the resulting explosion. Layout

Ripped from the northern tip of one of the Middle Isles and sequestered in a space between planes a mile high in the sky (Battle for the Salvation Weapons!) in an attempt to escape the Devourer and his Network, visitors and refugees alike are greeted by pink skies and floating rocks, as well as modest architecture and well-maintained city gardens.

While easy to reach, it is not so easy to leave; the only known way is to enter the Boiler Room and have Vince the Drakel flsh you down the Turbinated Ejector (a device that appears to be a giant toilet; in keeping with the toilet theme, this device also gives you the option of having a temporary weapon that looks like a toilet plunger.)

Courtyard

This is the area you arrive in when you travel to Isle d'Oriens. Clicking the gecko is not recommended (unless you've been to the library first and read her story.)

Adder's Forge

Here, you can speak with Adder the Blacksmith, obtain a powerful temporary axe, poke his fire cobra, and purchase some of the most powerful weapons and shields in the game.

Boiler Room

Here, you can speak with Vince the Drakel. This room is also the only means of exiting the island.

Lady Tomo's Cove

Here, you can speak with Lady Tomo.

Library

A massive library with several tomes that hold major bearing on other aspects of the game. This room also holds access to a hidden battle chamber (hidden beneath the pool) and the hidden home of Loremaster Falerin.
