Earth monsters vary greatly, from being high endurance tanks to defensive damage-absorbers to high-damage player-destroyers. These types of monsters are one of the most numorous monsters out the in the world of LORE, and they can carry among themselves spells with crippling effects such as Daze, Diseased, Entangle, or even Fear. Earth monsters seem weaker at early levels, but they gradually become stronger as one gains more levels. The first monster ever released in AdventureQuest, the Arroc, was an earth monster. Earth monsters have more monsters that attack with multiple elements than most other elements. These traits are not shared by the other elements, making earth enemies a deadly group for later levels and for the unprepared.
All these "advantages" that earth element monsters have can easily be stopped if the player has items that can counter the status condition they inflict, have a healing pet and/or guest, or just having a good earth defense.
Earth weapons for adventurers come in the form of their no-drop weapons. Adventurers may choose to use other earth weapons but have to give up a weapon element for it. Guardians do not have this problem, as they may change their no-drop element, and it also changes their armor and shield element. Earth armors are plentiful and many post-sweep options are available, including Morningstar, Hunter, Burro Rider, and Chimeran Rider, although the last is on older standards. Earth shields are also numerous and post-sweep examples include Defender Leader, basic earth elemental shields from Adder and Yulgar, Chimeran, Crystal Skull, Shadowslayer Shield, and Sackleberry. These items can make earth monsters seem like a weak Frogzard!
